ADM Capital TCFD & TNFD Report 2023
2023 marked an exceptional year of climate-related records and extreme weather events. Not only did human activities produce more greenhouse gas emissions this year than in any previous year, but biodiversity loss is also occurring at an unprecedented rate, with Asia home to many of the world’s biodiversity hotspots that are being degraded. Despite efforts to meet climate goals, the window of opportunity to keep global warming below 1.5°C is rapidly closing.
At ADM Capital, we acknowledge that responsible management of natural capital is fundamental to the investment process from a fiduciary standpoint: climate and nature issues pose serious risks to global financial markets and directly to our small and medium-sized borrowers in Asia.
Major strides were also made in 2023, with the expanded adoption of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”) and the publication of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (“TNFD”) recommendations. The two reporting frameworks are interconnected, as nature degradation contributes to climate change, while climate impacts also harm natural ecosystems.
We are pleased to publish our inaugural integrated TCFD and TNFD report, which represents a significant step forward in our commitment to transparency and accountability regarding our environmental impact. The report highlights our approach to managing climate and nature-related risks, as we recognise the interdependence of climate, ecosystem, and human societies.
